Grenada Gains Access to CAN-PLUS Expedited Visa Processing Program

Grenada Finds Favor in CAN Plus

Grenada secured a place on another significant Canada non-immigrant visa program.

Grenada’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs announced that Grenadians now qualify for the CANADA Plus (CAN Plus) visa program, which allows for expedited visa processing for citizens of Grenada who have held Canadian visas over the past ten years or who currently hold a valid United States visa.

This is different from the Canada eTA program in that under the CAN Plus visa program, Grenadian applicants will still need to apply for a visa to Canada even if they hold a valid USA visa or held a Canadian visa in the past ten years. The CAN Plus visa program, on the other hand, is designed specifically to expedite the processing of visitor visas for citizens of eligible countries, like Grenada, who have held a Canada visa in the past ten years or who currently hold a valid non-immigrant USA visa.

This expedited processing of visa applications gives Grenadians the advantage of receiving a response to their visa application within ten days of submission. There is no requirement for self-identification, and applicants will follow the regular application procedures as outlined in the electronic application process.

As was underscored by the Grenada Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Canada and Grenada are committed to strengthening their bonds and helping advance their people-to-people exchanges and relationships.

Grenada’s CBI Outlook

Being on the CAN Plus program is still exciting news for Grenadian citizens wishing to access Canada and enjoy all that Canada has to offer. The expedited processing is encouraging for those who have experienced the delays and prolonged periods it has taken in the past to receive a response to their visa applications.

Grenada’s access to Canada is easier now than it was before, and if there are any lingering doubts about the negative impact that not being on the eTA might pose to Grenada’s CBI program, one need only consider that the news in late 2022 about the changing E-2 visa regulations in the USA did not negatively impact Grenada’s CBI numbers. The local CBI Unit already reported that the first quarter of 2023 saw record numbers in CBI applicants and earnings.

Indeed, the experts have been clear—and the numbers prove it: Grenada clearly has a unique charm that endears people to the Island, and the quality of life, the attractiveness of its post-citizenship climate, and its increasing ease of access to the world are appealing to High Net-worth Individuals.

For now, it does appear that Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment Program is in competition only with itself.
