CBI Grenada Not Affected by Amended Us Legislation

  • by

The United States Government made recent announcements on the amendments to the E-2 Treaty, which stated that hopeful E-2 Investor Visa holders must be “domicile” in their country for three years. This has led many to question Grenada’s ability to maintain its CBI program’s prestige, earnings, and popularity.

However, many in the CBI market space have moved to debunk that theory, citing that the Grenada program is an attractive and robust one that can stand on its own. According to Prime Minister of Grenada Dickon Mitchell, access to the E-2 visa is only one tiny facet of all the offerings and attractions available to investment citizens of Grenada.

More so, Grenada has been the only island in the Caribbean region with the E-2 visa offering for citizens, and the other islands that never had that arrangement with the United States have maintained their CBI earnings throughout the years.

Cursory observers of the CBI market space will likely argue that CBI Grenada will continue to excel and maintain its esteem despite what decisions are made in the US regarding the E-2 Visa perk because Grenada is ideal for investment migration. Here’s how:

The Strong, Solid, Small-Island Citizenship

Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment program has been in existence since 2014. It has grown for several reasons, including but not limited to a quick well-curated application process compared to other immigration programs in large countries. Grenadian citizens can also travel without visa restrictions to more than 115 countries, and citizens are free to explore and go through the process to conduct business in any of these countries. These include the United Kingdom, Schengen area countries, and critical business hubs, such as Singapore and China.

At a recent press conference, Prime Minister of Grenada Dickon Mitchell said, “Grenada’s CBI program is not promoted based on access to the E-2 Visa alone.” He stated that Grenada’s CBI program has grown due to factors such as rigorous due diligence procedures and how strong the passport is in providing access to the world.

According to the latest Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Statistics Report capturing the last quarter of 2022, more applicants are choosing to go the real estate investment route. Figures show that out of the 286 approved new citizens of Grenada, 238 decided to invest directly into real estate projects approved by the government, with 48 making a one-time contribution to the National Transformation Fund (NFT).

Diverse Wants and Needs with Attractive Pathways to Citizenship

Individuals and families who consider applying for a second citizenship usually do so for many reasons. It can be as simple as choosing the Spice Isle to enjoy their retirement or start a family. Others may want to enjoy the gains of investing in government-endorsed real estate wrapped around the bustling industry of tourism. Some may see the opportunity to start or expand their business pursuits on the island. The Grenada government has ensured that the country continues to welcome new international business by positioning itself to attract, facilitate, and support big business.

The National Transformation fund is an option for those who don’t have the desire to run or own a business but simply enjoy Grenada and the perks of being a citizen. Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment offerings truly rest upon the applicants’ wants, needs, and desires.
